I am a Trade Union official for the National Education Union, and before that, I taught for over twenty-five years in primary schools. In my work, I support union members in schools, represent them in negotiations, and campaign on education issues such as government cuts. It’s mainly a role where I listen to people’s worries and find practical ways to resolve issues – very like the role of a local councillor.
I moved to the High Peak seven years with my family, and am now a school governor at New Mills Newtown and Thornsett Primary. Locally, I have campaigned for better train services, the NHS and against government austerity. I am also a member of Friends of the Earth and have a strong interest in environmental issues.
If elected, I look forward to working with New Mills West residents, fighting for your interests and being your voice on the council.
