Glossop is a great town to live in. I have lived here with my partner Jacqui and our two sons for over 20 years. I love our vibrant High Street, lovely local parks, beautiful countryside, lively community groups and friendly people. And yet there are problems for young people and others unable to get their own home, and fuel and food poverty. There is much to protect, and much to improve.
My main areas of interest within HPBC are:
- Housing. We need to develop more social and council housing and fewer new developments of “executive” housing.
- A sustainable economy. We should use the power of the council to keep financial resources within the High Peak and encourage a creative economy.
- A sustainable environment. Much environmental policy is delivered locally, from recycling through housing standards to power generation. As a councillor I would hope to put into practice the motto “Think Global, Act Local”
