Godfrey Claff
Howard Town Ward

Godfrey is a member of the Corporate Select Committee, and the Economy and Growth Select Committee.

I have been proud to represent the residents of Howard Town Ward, where I
have lived for over 40 years. I believe I have worked hard and made a difference to Glossop
and people’s lives in many ways.
As just a few examples, I have resolved over 300 resident’s requests for assistance; led on the
removal of the Glossop chimney and the building of 51 affordable homes on the site; fought
to resolve the odour issue at Lancashire Chemicals; fought to retain public access to George
Street Wood; assisted a number of residents with their housing problems; worked closely with
other councillors and Glossop organisations; tackled a long-term incidence of hate crime; and
I Chair Glossopdale Foodbank. I have tried to be accessible to local residents at all times and
have held regular monthly surgeries in the Market Arcade alongside the other Labour
Councillors in Glossop.
