In the 6 years that I have spent as a councillor for Buxton Central, I have had a steep learning curve of both council procedure and problems that residents endure.
I have liaised with council officers on behalf of residents to solve issues with failures in infrastructure, anti-social behaviour, planning enforcement and allotment management.
I promote green policies by speaking for: the anti-fracking campaign; the use of solar panels on Buxton Methodist Church and generally within my role on the development control committee. As an active member of Transition Buxton and the Town Team, I have actively supported the Serpentine Community Farm and helped with other projects around the town, including the new travel plan.
For 14 years I was a governor with Buxton Junior School and for several years I volunteered as an advisor with CVS helping people to reduce their energy bills.
My prior career was mainly in software development and expense reduction.
